Kansas Dems Announce Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as Keynote Speaker for Washington Days Convention

TOPEKA –– The Kansas Democratic Party (KDP) announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as the keynote speaker for the KDP’s annual Washington Days Banquet. Governor Walz is the current Chair of the Democratic Governors Association and a steadfast leader of the Democratic Party.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to Kansas for our annual Washington Days Convention. Governor Walz values what we as Kansans value: strong public schools, women's rights to make their own private medical decisions, and thriving rural communities,” said Kansas Democratic Party Chair Jeanna Repass. “We look forward to hearing from him about building momentum as we head into 2024 while we remain laser-focused on re-electing Representative Sharice Davids and electing more Democrats across Kansas to break the extreme Republican supermajority.”

Governor Walz is a champion of hardworking Americans with a deep understanding about how rural America is central to a thriving economy – especially in Kansas. As a veteran and public school teacher for 20 years, Governor Walz understands the importance of supporting military families and investing in public schools – the backbone of Kansas communities. Under his leadership, Minnesota experienced one of the most transformational legislative sessions in state history in 2023. Dubbed the “Minnesota Miracle,” Governor Walz led the passage of policies such as free school breakfast and lunch for Minnesota public school students, expanded voting rights, strengthened workers’ rights, tax cuts for Minnesota families, and more.
