NEW POLL: 62% of Kansans Approve of Gov. Laura Kelly’s Job Performance

TOPEKA – New polling from Morning Consult found that an overwhelming majority of Kansans – 62 percent – approve of Governor Laura Kelly’s job performance. That includes Democrat, Republican, and Independent voters. The poll also ranks Gov. Kelly as the seventh-most popular governor overall, and the second-most popular Democratic governor in the nation.

“Since taking office, Gov. Kelly has been laser-focused on rebuilding our state’s economy, making sure our students have the best chance to succeed by investing in our public schools, and cutting costs for working families. It’s no surprise to see her common-sense agenda is popular with Kansans across the state,” said KDP Chair Jeanna Repass. “Kansas families are benefitting thanks to Gov. Kelly’s leadership and focus on the issues that matter most.”

Gov. Kelly has continued to build on her work from her first term of rebuilding Kansas’ economy after Brownback’s disastrous “tax experiment,” fully funding public schools every year, and cutting costs for Kansas families. Just this legislative session, Gov. Kelly has signed legislation to improve Kansans’ lives, including improving access to childcare, improving conditions and outcomes for those in foster care, delivering relief for crime victims, improving workers compensation benefits, and landing huge economic development projects across the state.

Meanwhile, extreme Republicans in the Legislature have continued trying to pass their unpopular and extreme agenda that is far out of touch with the wants and needs of Kansans. Extreme Republican lawmakers continue to block expanding Medicaid which would lower healthcare costs for all Kansans and create 23,000 new jobs, boosting the Kansas economy.
